The Benefits of Choosing a Family Dentist
Dental offices and clinics that focus on care for the entire family are becoming more common. For one, family dentists are convenient; since family dentists are trained to care for patients of all ages, it is possible to arrange appointments for several or all family members at the same time.
Family dentists also get a chance to know patients from an early age. This means that your family dentist will have complete dental histories and treatment plans for all members of the family.
A Comprehensive Approach to Dentistry
Comprehensive dentistry considers both the functional and esthetic aspects of patients’ oral health. Even if you brush and floss daily, it’s nearly impossible to completely eliminate plaque and tartar. This is why regular checkups and cleanings (oral prophylaxis) are beneficial to patients of all ages.
As part of a comprehensive oral health regiment, Hall Family Dental offers the following:
- Oral prophylaxis (deep cleaning)
- Oral cancer screens
- Digital X-rays
- Gingival charting
- Tooth polishing
- Checkup of past restorations
Oral health goes beyond having an attractive smile and keeping all your teeth; the latest research studies show an association between oral diseases (gingivitis, periodontitis, etc.) and serious health complications including cardiovascular disease and pancreatic cancer. We can help. Schedule a checkup with Hall Family Dental today!
Digital X-rays
Digital X-rays are an essential diagnostic tool in modern dentistry. Without X-rays, dentists would have to approximate how healthy teeth, gums, and jawbones are based on their outward appearance.
X-rays allow us to detect dental issues that aren’t always obvious. Dental X-rays are important in uncovering issues such as:
- Cavities
- Cysts
- Bone loss
- Pulp infections
- Tooth decay
- Abscesses
- Impacted teeth
Digital X-rays expose patients to significantly less radiation than the film-based X-rays of years past. In fact, at only .001 mSv of radiation, you would have to undergo hundreds — if not thousands — of digital X-rays each year before it would become a significant health risk. The amount of radiation you receive from a round of digital X-rays is equivalent to 1/10 the amount you receive any given day on Earth. Hall Family Dental recommends digital X-rays for all new patient visits and on an as-needed basis.
